Ms. Childs has earned four degrees. She holds an Associates in Liberal Arts from Santa Monica College, a Bachelors in English Literature from University of California, Los Angeles, a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and another Associates in General Science from Austin Community College.
In 1990, she began practicing law in California and was subsequently licensed in 1994 to practice in Texas. Her private law practice began handling estate planning, but quickly shifted to construction defect and environmental insurance coverage matters, which led her to serve as the Attorney-in-Charge of the Environmental Department of the Texas Property & Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association. She then joined a private law practicing engaged a national coordinating coverage counsel for two Fortune 500 reinsurance groups, supervising all claims from pre-litigation through appeal involving environmental, toxic tort and latent injury claims. Upon relocating to Austin, Texas, she served as a Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Austin and Deputy Counsel for the Austin Housing Finance Corporation.
Her practice includes mentoring the Associate Attorneys in their practice of law and, both the counseling of firm clients in the wide array of day-to-day legal issues impacting local government; as well as, representation of firm clients in administrative, trial and appellate proceedings.
